London – Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver has taken to Twitter to express his anger and frustration after his 270-seat Italian eatery in Birmingham was attacked by rioters on Tuesday, reports The Daily Mail.

After learning of the attacks on his restaurant and others in London, he tweeted: "So sad to see what's happening in UK with these riots! All gone mad. time to get our country back. Now we need to come down hard on these idiots."

He also added: "Sadly my restaurant in Birmingham got smashed up, windows all gone, whole area closed, can't open, staff and customers all safe!! Thankfully."

The restaurant, Jamie’s Italian, which is located near the Bullring Shopping Centre in Birmingham, was targeted when rioters stormed the shopping centre.

Oliver later tweeted again to commend the clean-up effort currently being undertaken by Londoners, writing: "God bless the communities getting together to sort this out. People who care about their country!!"
