Cape Town - The Wavescape Surf & Ocean Festival is screening a record 32 films at the Labia this year, many of which are premieres. The screenings will take place from 7 to 10 December. (See the schedule here)

Look out for the one time screening and African premiere of Bunker77, the crazy story of Clark Gable's son Bunker Spreckels the heir to a massive fortune who became one of surfing's most infamous characters as he blasted his way across the world blowing his fortune and surfing his brains out.

There is also the epic film Proximity, a series of conversations between the world's top surfers. The latest in the Taylor Steele stable, starring Kelly, John John, Rasta, Stephanie Gilmore, Albee Layer and Craig Andersen, it's a goodie.

Nathan Oldfield's film Church of the Open Sky is beautiful. I am African is a soulful film about a soulful Moroccan who dreams of surfing Skeleton Bay in Namibia and travels the length of Africa to do it.

Quick list of all the films:

Proximity, The Jump, Biarritz Surf Gang, Given, Optimist, Paradigm Lost (the latest Red Bull film but showing at our Jack Black Night on Tuesday 5th), Sea Wolf, Blue Road, Bezerke, Week up West, I am African, and Scarlet's Tale and the shorts are A Million Waves, Awen, Woza, Shape qui Rit, Masa, The Edge of North, Sea Lone, Secret Waves, Welcome to Raglan, Night Rose, the Scramble Gamble, Left in Lagos, Blackboy, Visit, and Zion's Gate.
