Joost exhibits extraordinary qualities

2012-09-05 09:16
Joost van der Westhuizen
I'm one of multitudes of viewers who watched in disbelieve the Carte Blanche broadcast on Sunday evening as a once athletic Joost van der Westhuizen's life was played out as he is challenged by a dreaded disease.

He exhibits extraordinary qualities by painstakingly showing sheer commitment and taking the bull by the horns and tenacity to prosper in spite having to endure challenging moments in his life. As he suggests, he can either wait to die or live life to the fullest. He choose the latter.

His story reads like a rare script in that he has demonstrated that "as people, we're all capable human failings in every turn of our lives, but it is how we turn around our lives that we will be judged".

The overwhelming messages of support for Joost from your readers and viewers alike is also testament that South Africans are true heroes and heroines, to support one of their own when the need arises! Bravo South Africans.
