Jason Hartman proposes

Last year he was crowned the second winner to Idols 2009 after Sasha-Lee took the title. But 2010 is his year.

Jason Hartman must be smiling ear to ear. When heat first spotted Jason Hartman with Candice Phippen at the Durban July last year, it was pretty clear these two were totally in love. However no one knew that Jason had already popped the big question. "On the night I met Candice, I asked her to marry me. I knew she was the one," says a giddy Jason.

The "proper" proposal came on Jason's 30th birthday late last year. The singer says while he was reading his speech in front of around 100 friends and family, he just knew the moment was right. "I didn't ask her dad before, so I had a lot of catching up to do with him. Nothing was planned. I made the decision then and there," he explains.

Jason says that when he first hooked up with the 22-year-old blonde, he thought being a muso would have a negative impact on their relationship. But as fate would have it, he landed up having loads of gigs in Natal, where Candice lives.

No plans have been made yet but the Idols winner would like to walk down the aisle in 2011.
