1 very important reason why we won’t be posting funny memes of Solange’s attack on Jay Z

Los Angeles – When TMZ released a video on Monday of security footage from Solange’s vicious attack on Jay Z in an elevator the internet went crazy.

Facebook news feeds were packed with news articles, comments, memes and funny status updates about the shocking incident.

As an entertainment news source it’s our job to report on entertainment related news. (Even if it isn’t always good news).

Even though we always try and find a light-hearted or funny angle to celebrity news, here is one very important reason why we won’t be posting a list article with funny memes of the attack:

THE REASON: Jokes like the ones we see circulating the web make light of male victims of domestic violence, who are less likely to report abuse than female victims. Would Jay Z have become a meme if he had been the one lashing out? Is it fair that our first question after the footage surfaced was #WhatJayZSaidToSolange?
