Actress calls police on Scientology leader

Los Angeles - Leah Remini has filed a missing person report for Scientology leader David Miscavige's wife Shelly.

The King of Queens actress and her family cut ties with the controversial religion last month after years of alleged abuse for questioning David's actions, which began when she demanded to know where his wife - who hasn't been seen in public since 2007 - was during Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' wedding in 2006.

The 43-year-old star has now made her concerns public by getting the police involved, according to writer Tony Ortega, whose site, The Underground Bunker, exposes the inner workings of the sci-fi sect.

An LAPD spokesperson confirmed to US Weekly: "We can confirm that the missing person report has been taken and that's all the information we have at this time."

Ortega reports Shelly has been residing in a "secret compound near Lake Arrowhead in the mountains above Los Angeles" since 2006, alongside several other Scientologists, who are "completely cut off from the outside world".

However, the Church of Scientology have strongly denied the claims, insisting they are fabricated.

Shelley's lawyer said: "Any reports that she is missing are false. Mrs. Miscavige has been working non-stop in the Church, as she always has."

According to TMZ, the case has now been closed because cops had a face-to-face meeting with Shelly, but it is not yet known whether she was being held against her will.

Leah - who was born and raised within the secretive cult - is set to pen a tell-all book about her experiences and the five years of "thought modification" she was subjected to when she began to ask questions.
