Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt tie the knot in secret ceremony

New York - Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were married Saturday in Chateau Miraval, France, says a spokesperson for the couple.

Jolie and Pitt wed on Saturday in a small chapel in a private ceremony attended by family and friends. In advance of the nondenominational civil ceremony, Pitt and Jolie also obtained a marriage license from a local California judge. The judge also conducted the ceremony in France.

The couple's children took part in the wedding. Jolie walked the aisle with her eldest sons Maddox and Pax. Zahara and Vivienne threw petals. Shiloh and Knox served as ring bearers, the spokesperson says.

The couple, who got together after filming Mr. and Mrs. Smith, were spotted arriving on a private jet at Nice airport on Friday, according to Daily Mail.

The couple are currently preparing to start filming upcoming romantic drama By The Sea in Malta, and an on-set source has revealed they are going to get very intimate in front of the cameras.

According to Us Weekly, the new film, which is being written and directed by Angie, will see the couple act out some steamy scenes just a short walk from where their family is staying on the picturesque Mediterranean island.

The couple will be filming the scenes in Mgarr ix-Xini Bay in Gozo, which is around 50 miles south of the Italian island of Sicily, with the shoot set to last around 10 weeks.

Angelina and Brad announced their engagement in April 2013 following an eight-year relationship. At the time, they described it as a "promise for the future" and said they were very happy to be engaged.
