Los Angeles - Britney Spears will "always adore" Jason Trawick.
The 31-year-old popstar and her fiance of 13 months have called off their engagement, in the same week as Britney quit The X Factor US, but has said that they have vowed to remain friends.
"Jason and I have decided to call off our engagement. I'll always adore him and we will remain great friends," Britney told People magazine.
Britney's representative Jeff Raymond confirmed the split was a mutual decision. He said: "Britney Spears and Jason Trawick have mutually agreed to end their one-year engagement.
'Remain friends'
"As two mature adults, they came to the difficult decision to go their separate ways while continuing to remain friends."
Meanwhile, Jason insisted he will always cherish Britney and her sons Sean Preston, seven, and Jayden James, six.
"As this chapter ends for us a new one begins. I love and cherish her and her boys and we will be close forever," Jason said.
While Britney's legal and personal affairs have been in the hands of her father Jamie Spears since her breakdown in 2008, Jason acted as co-conservator but reportedly asked for news of their break-up to be kept private until his role as conservator ends.
This could happen imminently as Jamie attended court, to discuss Britney's legal situation.
