Los Angeles - Charlize Theron is desperate for her hair to grow back.

The actress shaved off her famed blonde locks for her role in new movie Mad Max: Fury Road, but while she was happy to do it for the film, she isn't comfortable with her new look and can't wait to get rid of her skinhead.

A source told National Enquirer magazine: "She is not going out in public as much because of her hair. She's growing it out as soon as possible."

The 36-year-old beauty is said to have stocked up on hair products in a bid to make her locks grow faster.

Charlize is playing Furiosa in the movie, starring alongside Tom Hardy, and she recently admitted it has taken three years for the film to come together.

The mother-of-one said: "It's been three years: It's time to skin this cat already! I'm very excited about it.

"The original Mad Max created such a vivid world, so to go back and re-imagine it and re-play in that sandbox sounds like fun to me. It's a really challenging piece of material."
