Kuruman - Charlize Theron's grandmother has died.
Bettie Moolman, 81, died on Friday after many battles with cancer.
Moolman was Theron's grandmother on her father's side.
Theron's father, Charles Theron died in 1991 after her mother Gerda shot him during an altercation at their home in Benoni.
After Charles's death Charlize and Gerda had no contact with the Theron family.
Before her death Moolman had accepted that she would never make contact with the Oscar-winner again, although she was bitter that Charlize had decided to break ties with her family.
However, when asked in an interview with Kalahari Bulletin in 2009 if she is proud of her granddaughter, she said: "Which grandma wouldn't be proud of such a stellar granddaughter?"
Moolman is survived by her third husband, Christo Moolman, two sons, three daughters, 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
