Chloë Grace Moretz asks for prayers for her mom

Los Angeles - Chloë Grace Moretz has asked her fans to pray for her mother.

The 16-year-old star 's mother, Teri Moretz, is currently batting cancer and the Kick-Ass 2 actress has hinted she is worried about her prognosis.

She tweeted on Tuesday: "Please pray for my mama <3"

Her close friend, Abigail Breslin, showed her support by sharing Chloë's appeal for prayers.

The 17-year-old August: Osage County star tweeted: "Guys, please send prayers and love for my girl @ChloeGMoretz mom. Love you, Chlo. Xx"

Teri, who is a nurse, was diagnosed when Chloe was 10 and the actress recently admitted that her mother's illness and her parent's divorce helped her gain a new perspective.

She said: "It made me realise, along with everything that happened with my dad, that your parents aren't these godly figures. They're not chosen by the heavens. They're humans. Their bodies can fail and they can die at any moment. They make mistakes. They cry. They fight. It definitely, from a young age, put everything into perspective for me."

The actress, who has four older brothers, Ethan, Colin, Brandon and Trevor, also recently revealed that she is very protective of her family.

She said: "Never choose your friends over your family or a boyfriend or girlfriend over the family. My mom has always taught us that blood is thicker than water. No one will ever understand the dynamic of your family. Ever. We are the closest family ever and we are the most insane family ever. It may look weird to others, but to us, it's life."
