The Beautiful singer - who announced she had split from husband Jordan Bratman in October after almost five years of marriage - has been romancing the set assistant in recent weeks and Helen Breuer, one of his oldest friends, says the hunk is incredibly thoughtful and attentive.
Helen told RadarOnline.com: "He's just a solid guy all around.
"My mother was elderly and Matt was always all too happy to help her out, especially when it was snowing. He shovelled our walk way and he helped my mom to and from the house.
"When all the other kids were out sledding, Matt would be helping us out."
Christina, 29, admitted last week she had strong feelings for Matt, who she started dating after they met on the set of her latest movie Burlesque.
The singer-and-actress - who has a two-year-old son Max with Jordan - said: "There's a love there, yes.
"Matthew is a special person. We had a really strong friendship on the movie. He's the kind of person you could spend hours on the phone talking to and all of a sudden it's daylight."
However, the blonde beauty admits she is taking her romance slowly.
She added: "I just left a five-year marriage. I'm taking it slow and trying to be happy. I'm having fun, I'm dating and it's something I haven't had in a really long time."
