Courteney Cox was the ultimate best friend at Jennifer Aniston’s wedding

Los Angeles – Jennifer Aniston enlisted Courteney Cox to be her maid of honour.

The Cougar Town actress was Jennifer's top choice for the ceremonial role at her secret wedding on Wednesday night, which took place at the Bel Air home she shares with new husband Justin Theroux.

The best pals of over 20 years met on the hit TV sitcom Friends. Their co-star Lisa Kudrow also attended the nuptials.

Justin's best man was none other than his tattoo artist, Scott Campbell, who is married to actress Lake Bell, according to People magazine.

Meanwhile Courteney Cox was also the "last guest to leave" the wedding.

The 51-year-old actress wasn't among the guests spotted arriving for the nuptials, but insiders insist that she was there and partied harder than almost anyone.

A source told People magazine: "The last guest to leave was Courteney. She left right after Ellen DeGeneres and Jimmy Kimmel. She left around 3:00."

The low-key wedding was described as being more like a "warm house party" and everyone had a great time.

A source said: "It was done completely on the sly. It was their closest friends and very simple and intimate. There were lots of laughs as well as tears and the mood was light."

Guests were entertained by Sia, who sang her hit Chandelier, and dined on a lavish feast of chicken, fish, sausage, fettuccine carbonara with pork and mostaccioli pasta with red sauce.

A source told Us Weekly magazine: "It was really, really good. The cake was delicious!"

Friend and photographer Terry Richardson took pictures throughout the celebration, while Jennifer's friend Jennifer Mayer - who is married to Tobey Maguire - designed the pair's wedding rings.

The couple were last spotted boarding a flight to Bora Bora on honeymoon with a small group of friends
