Depressed Brad Pitt turned to dagga

Los Angeles - Brad Pitt has confessed he became a "doughnut" due to heavy dagga use.

The Moneyball star has revealed his marijuana smoking got out of control in the late 90s because he was trying to escape the pressures of fame.

He told The Hollywood Reporter magazine: "I got really sick of myself at the end of the 1990s. I was hiding out from the celebrity thing, I was smoking way too much dope, I was sitting on the couch and just turning into a doughnut and I really got irritated with myself."

The publication's executive features editor Stephen Galloway revealed the actor credits his drug use to depression.

Galloway said: "He said it's like he had a semester of depression.

"He hasn't had that in this decade, but he definitely wrestled with it in the past."

Last year, the 48-year-old Hollywood star - who was nominated for the Best Actor Oscar recently - even quit smoking regular cigarettes after being caught puffing by two of his children, daughters Zahara and Shiloh.

Brad and his long-term partner Angelina Jolie also raise four other kids together - Maddox, Pax, and twins Knox and Vivienne.

Poor Brad found out the truth the hard way: Dagga is not good for you.

At least he didn't turn to prescription drugs that may have killed him. Poor Brad admitted that his smoking habit got out of control and that he was using dagga becuase he was depressed, not that dagga made him depressed. Dagga doesn't make you fat, overeating or eating crap makes you fat. Should we criminalize junk food as well? Please stop blaming dagga for the failings of individuals.

Zion - sheep like you really do believe everything actors say? He is an actor and a pretty good one! He nver said dagga made him depressed, he was just depressed. And if dagga was so bad for you and it makes you crazy and stupid and forget things, then why is he ok? He said he smoke lots right? So if all these studies you anti-dagga morons go on about are true, why is he not in a mental hospital???

What's the point here? 'twas in the 90s, it would have been an interesting disclosure back then.

There's a big difference between depression and feeling bummed out.
