Dwayne Johnson's mom and cousin in car crash

Los Angeles - Dwayne Johnson's mother and cousin have been in a car crash after being hit by a drunk driver.

The Hercules actor has confirmed his two family members survived the collision and admitted while it is tempting to retaliate with unrelenting harm, he is looking to move past it.

He wrote on Instagram: "My mom & cousin @linafanene were struck head on by a drunk driver this week - they lived, first reaction is to find the person who did this and do unrelenting harm to them, but then you realize the most important thing is my family lived thru this and we can hug each other that much tighter these days."

Meanwhile, Dwayne - who is also known by his wrestling name, The Rock - has urged his fans to use the accident as a reminder to embrace their own family tighter and be thankful for every moment with them.

He continued: "Hug your own family tighter today and be grateful you can tell them you love them. "#BearHugsAndGratitude #100PercentPreventable #ChoicesMatter"

The star has opened up about his love for mother, and has revealed the moment they were evicted from their home was the inspiration behind him transforming his physique.
