heat's Hot 100 kicks off

Cape Town - The eighth annual heat Hot 100 celebrity popularity contest has been launched.

Celebrity gossip magazine heat is inviting the public to vote for their favourite local and international stars.

Melinda Shaw, editor in chief of heat, said they are very excited to see which way the votes will go in 2011.

"Voting has just opened so the field is wide open and I can't wait to see what moments in celebrity have captured the readers' imagination. I'm predicting Ian Somerhalder and Alexander Skarsgard and the hot stars of the different vampire series currently on TV may do well, but maybe it's a local hero like Oscar Pistorius who scores more votes – this year he’s shown himself to be a really hot international model as well as a star athlete so he certainly ticks all the boxes," said Shaw.

Pistorius is on the current issue of Heat and has recently made history by running in the ablebodied World Athletics Championships in Korea. Shaw also added that "heat readers also went wild for Clayton Miyosa in this year's Big Brother Africa, so we're looking forward to seeing how he does."

Ryk Neethling was the first local celebrity to secure the spot on the top on the list in both 2008 and 2009. The Locnville twins got the honour of being voted the hottest celebrities for 2010.

This year, voters stand a chance to win prize money of R10 000 in cash, plus other prizes worth over R80 000, including a PS3, BlackBerry and Givenchy shades.

Voting lines are open until October 29 2011. To vote, text HOT and the name of the celeb you want to vote for to 32248, or vote online at www.heathot100.co.za.
