Los Angeles - Fergie has thrown off her birth name and embraced her stage name and husband's surname.
The Black Eyes Peas singer, who is heavily pregnant with her first child with her actor husband Josh Duhamel, filed documents in Los Angeles last month requesting to change her name from Stacy Ann Ferguson to Fergie Duhamel and TMZ reports it became official on Friday.
The 38-year-old star, who has been married for more than four years, revealed she wanted to change her name in order to "conform to the first name which she is commonly and professionally known as, and has been for many years".
In order for the court to grant her request, the singer had to publish a notice about her new name in a local newspaper for four consecutive weeks.
Excited father-to-be
Meanwhile, Fergie's husband recently revealed he can't wait to be a father.
"Everyone is saying, 'You better sleep now [because] you're not going to get any when the baby's here,' [and] 'Oh, your life is over after that,' [and] 'Oh, it's the most beautiful thing ever, but it's tough,'" said Josh.
"I look forward to putting the attention [on the baby]. All the love that you have for something like that is what makes it so great and I think we are both ready for that."
Josh also revealed he wants to take time off when the baby is born so he can spend time with his wife and child.
