Fokof rocker can't wait to get hitched

Cape Town – Wynand Myburgh, bass guitarist for Afrikaans rock band Fokofpolisiekar (FPK) and Van Coke Kartel (VCK) is set to tie the knot with his girlfriend of four years, Tarina da Silva.

The couple have known each other seven years, dated for four years, and have been engaged for just over a year. They will be married on November 5 at the Riebeekvallei Hotel in Riebeek-Wes.

Myburgh and the other members of VCK have just finished recording their fourth album, Wie's Bang.

Da Silva's mom, Hannelie, said on Thursday that all the plans for the wedding have been taken care of. "Now it just has to happen and be done with it," she joked about the year long anticipation for the big day.

Altogether 50 guests have been invited to the intimate wedding."There won't be many celebrities, but all the guys from Fokofpolisiekar, Van Coke Kartel and of Die Heuwels Fantasties will be there."

Best man

Francois van Coke, lead singer of FPK and VCK will act as Myburgh's best man. The pair have been best friends for years. Van Coke will also marry his long-time girlfriend Laren Wiid in February.

According to Da Silva, Myburgh's wedding garb which includes a jacket and a bow tie, was bought in Argentina, While Tarina's wedding dress and accessories were bought in London and Argentina.

Regarding the couple's nerves leading up to the big day, Da Silva said that Wynand is quite nervous.

"Tarina is OK. Everything's fine."

Tarina's grandmother Hortense Da Silva, will travel from Portugal especially to attend the wedding.

"Wynand was the first member of FPK who got engaged, and will now be the first one to marry. After him, the rest followed. I think they were waiting for someone to take the lead," Da Silva noted regarding the wedding fever that has gripped the rockers.
