Full House actor thanks fans after arrest

Los Angeles - John Stamos has thanked his fans for their "love and support" following his arrest.

The Full House star took to his Twitter account to express his gratitude to his followers and staff at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre who treated him for a "possible medical condition" after he was arrested by the BHPD (Beverly Hills Police Department) for DUI in Beverly Hills on Friday.

He wrote: "Thanks to everyone for their love & support. I'm home & well. Very appreciative of the BHPD & Cedars for their care."

Officers were alerted to the fact the 51-year-old actor had been drinking when he started driving erratically along Santa Monica Boulevard.

They then handcuffed the star before taking him to hospital for treatment.

In a statement from the Beverly Hills Police Department which was given to HollywoodLife.com, they confirmed John was cited for DUI and is set to appear in court on 11 September.

The statement said: "The BHP stopped the vehicle at Canon Dr. and Santa Monica Boulevard. The driver and sole occupant was identified by his driver's license as John Phillip Stamos, and by his own statement.

"Due to a possible medical condition, Mr. Stamos was transported to a local area hospital by the Beverly Hills Fire Department for observation. Subsequent investigation determined that he was driving under the influence and was placed under arrest."
