Game of Thrones star bankrupted by divorce

Los Angeles - Game of Thrones star Lena Headey claims her recent separation from her husband has bankrupted her, reports E! Online.

Headey, who plays Cersei Lannister on the HBO epic series, filed for a divorce from her husband Peter Loughran in July 2012, has made startling claims in her latest court documents that she is bordering on the brink of bankruptcy.

In the documents, Headey writes: "At the present time, I have less than $5 in my bank account and have been using credit cards to pay for living expenses for myself and our son Wylie."

The documents goes on to further state that she had asked her estranged husband for her share of their joint 2011 tax refund which is seen as community property, and Headey now requesting an advance of $6 000 from the court on this refund.

Trial date has been set

Backing up this request, Headey states that this was during the time she was pregnant with her son and as a result could not be insured or work on any film or TV projects.

According to HollywoodLife.com, many insiders are shocked by the star's revelation that she is bankrupt. Some claim that her contract with Game of Thrones should be paying her a substantial amount, but claims in her latest court documents suggest otherwise.

The site also reports that the judge has thrown out her request for an advance on the tax refund.

A hearing has been set for 26 April and both parties have been requested to attend.
