George Clooney's wedding 'will be attended by 60 guests'

Los Angeles - George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin are to invite just 60 close family and guests to their wedding, a report has claimed.

The couple are set to tie the knot on a private Venetian island in a couple of weeks and according to a Daily Mirror newspaper source, they will initially exchange vows on Friday at

Chelsea Town Hall before jetting off to Venice for a relatively small ceremony.

Despite this, the insider claims that an entire Venetian island has been booked for the occasion, with Amal's paternal aunt, May Salman, and her children Ramzi and Makram thought to be central to the whole event.

Speculation continues to surround the identity of George's best man, with Brad Pitt and Matt Damon said to be among those in contention.

Suggestions of a relatively small gathering are consistent with the thoughts of one source, who recently said: "This is not going to be a huge Hollywood wedding with Julia Roberts and Sandra Bullock flying in to Italy for a week.

The source added, "they want the wedding to be intimate with quiet but happy and fun dinners and lunches after they've said short but meaningful, hand-written vows in front of their loved ones."
