London - George Michael has been released from hospital 13 days after falling from a moving car.

The 49-year-old singer sustained head injuries when he fell out of a Range Rover at 112km/h on the M1 motorway in Hertfordshire, England, on Thursday May 16.
After being treated for almost two weeks, George has now been allowed to return home.

A statement released on his official website read: "We can confirm that George Michael has been discharged from hospital and continues to rest and recuperate. He is well and thanks everyone for all the messages of support."

'I saw blood everywhere'

The singer - who lives in Highgate, north London - was seen falling out of the passenger door of the vehicle and motorist Katherine Fox who witnessed the incident revealed she had reversed her car to shield George from passing traffic while waiting for medical assistance.

She said: "I saw blood everywhere and a man on the ground.

"I thought someone had run across the road and been hit.

"I asked what had gone on and was told he tried to open the car door and shut it again because it wasn't shut properly and apparently fell out at 70mph. I was on the phone to the ambulance and said, 'You'd better come quick. This doesn't look good'."

George will now face questioning from police who are still trying determine what happened.
