Harry Potter fans flock to Voldermort's grave

Los Angeles - Harry Potter fans have been leaving tributes at a real grave believing it to be an inspiration behind one of the book's characters.

Hundreds of well wishers have left messages at the grave of Thomas Riddell died in 1806 aged 72, in Greyfriars Kirkyard, Edinburgh, Scotland.

Many supporters believe the late man inspired author J.K. Rowling to come up with the name of her Voldermort character, whose real moniker was Tom Marvolo Riddle, in the book series.

Due to the popularity of the grave, a special Harry Potter tour for fans now takes place in the city, where Rowling is thought to have got many inspirations for her characters.

Will Naameh, one of the leaders of The Potter Trail, told the Daily Express newspaper: "This recent trend to leave notes and such has been building up over the past month.

"The fact and the fiction have become a little blurred - on the tour we do state that 'this is Voldemort's grave', but most people understand he is just an inspiration."
