Holly Madison plans to eat placenta

Los Angeles - Holly Madison is planning to eat her placenta.

The former Playboy model is due to give birth to her and her boyfriend Pasquale Rotella's first child together on 5 March and she is planning on consuming the ephemeral organ which is connecting her baby to her blood supply.

In a post on her blog, which she attached a clip art photo of placenta pills in a jar to, Holly wrote: "This might sound gross, but I'm totally planning on having my placenta turned into pills I can take after giving birth.

"I heard it helps women recover faster and I want to recover as quickly as I can!"

Alice In Wonderland nursery

The 33-year-old beauty is also working on decorating her daughter-to-be's nursery in her Las Vegas home with an Alice In Wonderland theme to fill the time before her due date.

She added: "Making progress painting my nursery ... I wonder if I will finish in time!"

Holly's decision to eat the placenta follows Mad Men actress January Jones' announcement that she is currently eating the placenta which surrounded her son Xander, which she has kept in capsule form since his birth last September.

January said: "I have a great doula who makes sure I'm eating well, with vitamins and teas, and with placenta capsulation.

"Your placenta gets dehydrated and made into vitamins. It's something I was very hesitant about, but we're the only mammals who don't ingest our own placentas.

"It's not witch-crafty or anything! I suggest it to all moms!"
