Hugh Grant taken to hospital

London - Hugh Grant was reportedly taken to hospital after a health scare.

The Notting Hill actor was brought to the accident and emergency department of a hospital in west London after feeling faint, dizzy and short of breath.

However, the British star refused to call an ambulance because he "didn't want to waste paramedics' time" and waited for hours at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital without "making any fuss".

A source told The Sun newspaper: "You'd have had no idea he was a huge star."

Recovering

Although his spokesperson refused to comment on the medical scare on Tuesday, 50-year-old Grant was later discharged and is now recovering at home.

The Four Weddings and a Funeral star recently praised the work of medical staff in the UK as his role as ambassador for cancer charity Marie Curie, and has opened up about the last days of his mother Fynvola's life. She died of pancreatic cancer in 2001.

He said: "The nurses were just fantastic, whether the normal NHS (National Health Service) nurses or the Marie Curie nurses whose entire life is spent sitting in the dark with someone who is dying.

"They almost earn nothing, but if I put them next to my hedge fund friends I know who is happier."

He also recently made a pledge of £100 000 to website healthtalkonline.org, saying he feels the resources they provide would have benefitted his mother if they had been available at the time.
