Idols SA welcomes flamboyant Somizi as new judge

Johannesburg – After nearly six years with only three judges Idols SA will be welcoming flamboyant choreographer, Somizi Mhlongo, to their judging panel, according to reports.

The Idols SA website reported Somgaga – as he is fondly known amongst his many fans – joins Randall Abrahams, Unathi Msengana and Gareth Cliff for the eleventh season of one of SA’s biggest TV talent competition.

Mhlongo told Idols SA that he has never be so excited, adding that he would be judging with “razzmatazz”. He warned contestants that he was looking for those with showmanship and not just a good voice.

Idols SA has reopened the seat for a fourth judge for the first time since the founding judge Dave Thompson left the show at the end of Season 5 (2009).

Mhlongo told the Sowetan that he has been tight-lipped for the past two months, since he was offered a seat on the judging panel two months ago.

Still hasnt sunk in. But I'm ready for this journey
