London  - Simon Cowell has hinted he will marry Lauren Silverman.

The music mogul posted a series of cryptic messages on Twitter on Sunday promising his fans some exciting news in the near future, which is rumoured to be the announcement of his engagement to his pregnant girlfriend.

He wrote on the social networking site: "Excited to reveal some news in the next few weeks. Am feeling very positive right now. It's been hard work but nothing should be too easy.

"In life you can obsess on other people's failures or focus on your own mistakes and work hard to make sure you don't repeat them.

"But hard work and focus gives you a chance to turn a corner. And that's how I am feeling right now."

Sources told the Daily Star newspaper the X Factor boss is "a real traditionalist at heart" and he hopes to tie the knot with Lauren, 36, before she gives birth to their son next year.

The couple's relationship has definitely been "hard work" since the New York socialite entered into messy divorce proceedings with her property tycoon ex-husband Andrew Silverman when her affair with Simon was exposed.

The 53-year-old star seems to have put his bachelor days behind him for good by putting his Beverley Hills mansion on the market for £12.3m, with the apparent intention of moving in with Lauren.

The plush pad - which he snapped up for £9.5m in 2011 - was entirely redecorated by his ex-fiancée Mezhgan Hussainy.

Prospective buyers will be able to enjoy the use of six bathrooms, four bedrooms, a home cinema and a swimming pool, while rubbing shoulders with A-list neighbours Jennifer Aniston and Ringo Starr.
