Jagger's ex sells a lock of his hair

2013-07-05 09:35
Los Angeles - A lock of Sir Mick Jagger's hair has sold for £4 000 (R60 000) at auction.

The hair - which was sold by the Rolling Stone singer's former girlfriend Chrissie Shrimpton - was bought by an anonymous buyer for twice what Bonham's auction house predicted it would fetch.

The winning bidder will receive the lock of hair along with an envelope with the words “Mick Jagger's hair after being washed + trimmed by Chris at Rose Hill Farm (sic)” written on it.

The hair was cut almost 50 years ago by Chrissie, whose grandmother stashed it away only for it to be discovered after her death.

Money donated to charity

All proceeds from the sale will be donated to the charity Changing Faces, supporting people with facial disfigurements.

Meanwhile, Mick and the rest of the band - which includes Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts - threw a star-studded after-party to celebrate their Glastonbury gig last weekend.

The rockers booked 20 rooms at the Babington House hotel in Somerset, South West England, and invited a group of famous friends, including Kate Moss, Coldplay singer Chris Martin and Pulp star Jarvis Cocker, to party with them after they wowed over 100 000 fans as they headlined the Pyramid Stage.

A source said: “It was incredible; The Stones have still got it on stage and off. They celebrated long into the night. Everyone was on a huge high.”

Mick's partner L'Wren Scott was also present with two of his children, Jade Jagger and Georgia May Jagger.
