The hunky 32-year-old actor trimmed off almost 10kg to play the role of a freelance crime reporter who stumbles upon the dangerous underworld of Los Angeles in his latest movie Nightcrawler.
Many were shocked to see Gyllenhaal looking almost skeletal at the 17th Annual Hollywood Film Awards on Monday night.
With his eyes deep in their sockets and his razor sharp cheekbones protruding, Jake did not look healthy at all.
