Los Angeles - Jake Gyllenhaal grows his own vegetables.
The 29-year-old actor insists he didn't ever worry about trying to get in shape for his nude scenes in Love and Other Drugs because he already eats healthily and didn't think it would suit his character if he bulked up.
He said: "I didn't think about getting in shape. I wanted my character to be a little sinewy and slimy.
"I used to go to the gym but I don't do that anymore.
"I don't follow a special diet but I try and eat well, so I grow my own vegetables."
Jake is not the only star to grow their own food.
Nicole Kidman prefers to cultivate her own crops at her Nashville home to feed husband Keith Urban and two-year-old daughter Sunday Rose.
She said recently: "We just planted our vegetables for the summer and all we have at the moment is lettuce. I'm hoping the corn will be beautiful, because I love eating corn out of the garden."
Johnny Depp has previously admitted he hates leaving the house and only does so to check on the progress of his vegetables.
He said: "We have a great place in the South of France. It's a little hamlet - only about 45 acres - and I don't do anything.
"I've not left the property for three months at a time. I literally just wake up, go out, check the garden and see the vegetables growing. It's a pristine existence in terms of simplicity.
"There's no talk of movies or work and, infinitely more important, the telephone never rings. It really is a beautiful, simple life."
