Jason Statham tells Esquire magazine his drunken secrets

Los Angeles - Jason Statham likes to "get drunk" with Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

The Spy star, who has been in a relationship with the 28-year-old actress for five years, says they enjoy letting their hair down at their Los Angeles home when they aren't busy working.

Asked what they like to do together, the 47-year-old star actor said: "We get drunk and float around the swimming pool."

The British star plays a tough guy in his new film alongside Melissa McCarthy and admits he was initially "apprehensive" about starring in a comedy, but thinks it will be a hit.

He told Esquire magazine: "I've always been apprehensive about trying to do a fucking comedy, because they're either brilliant or they're fucking terrible. At least in making an action film, there's always going to be someone who wants to see a car chase. Even if a lot of the people don't like it, there will be a lot of people that do.

"Bbad comedy is just garbage. But this works, and I give a lot of the credit-or all of the fucking credit-to Paul [Feig] and the writing."

Rosie previously admitted life with Jason is "tricky."

She said: "People go crazy for Jason. It can become a frenzy walking down the street with him.

'People relate to him and feel like he's the guy they grew up with, so it's tricky.

"You can't always do the right thing...People will say, 'What do you mean you don't do your own grocery shopping?' But I go to the supermarket and there are 20 photographers watching it. Doing normal stuff just isn't the same."
