Jay-Z's $100k Super Bowl celebration

Los Angeles - Jay-Z splashed out over £100 000 celebrating Beyoncé's Super Bowl half-time performance.

The 99 Problems hitmaker - whose real name is Shawn Carter - hosted a surprise party after Sunday's sporting event in New Orleans and presented his wife with a £60 000 diamond-encrusted watch, which had Mrs. Carter engraved on the back, to show how proud he was of his spouse.

The 43-year-old rapper also splashed out £50 000 on champagne, including one bottle which cost £10 000 - which he poured over his wife and her Destiny's Child bandmates Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland, who had joined her on stage for their first performance together since 2007.

A source told the Daily Star newspaper: "Beyoncé was over the moon with the surprise party."

'Room was full of expensive champagne'

"Everyone was watching as Jay-Z scooped her up for a kiss. But then suddenly he grabbed a giant bottle of pink Armand de Brignac champers, shook it up, and sprayed it over her, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.

"They were all laughing and dancing and didn't seem to mind getting their hair getting wet. He even soaked all of their hickory chicken wings and club sandwiches.

"The room was full of expensive champagne."

It had been speculated before the Superbowl that Beyoncé - who has 12-month-old daughter Blue Ivy with Jay-Z - would be joined during her performance by her spouse.

However, he failed to appear and insiders say it is because he didn't want to overshadow the Love On Top singer.

A source said: "He wanted that to be her moment and didn't want to take away from it. She's been working her ass off."
