Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson host pre-wedding party

Los Angeles - Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson held a joint bachelor and bachelorette party at the weekend.

The couple hosted around 40 guests, including her mother Tina and his father, at Warwick in Los Angeles this passed Sunday to celebrate their impending nuptials.

A friend said: "It wasn't about being naughty. They just wanted a great night out with their friends and family.

The friend added, "Everyone had a great time. There were fun toasts at dinner and dancing!

"[Jessica and Eric] were just excited to have some fun and celebrate with the people they love."

The 33-year-old singer-and-actress and her 34-year-old fiance felt it was appropriate to have a joint bash because their friends are so close.

Jessica's bridesmaid Stephanie Terblanche told People magazine: "They didn't want a traditional bachelor-bachelorette party where they go off and do their own thing, because our group of friends is so close we just wanted to all be together.

"This is what we would do anyway. We would all go out, and I think that this speaks for the group. If we are not going to be at someone's house hanging out playing beer pong, this is the closest thing to it."

The couple - who have children Maxwell , two, and Ace, 11 months, together - are expected to tie the knot in the coming months.
