Jessie J brands social media as a romance killer

Los Angeles - Jessie J has blamed social media for killing romance.

The Bang Bang hitmaker - who largely keeps her private life out of the spotlight - believes that if websites like Facebook and Twitter were shut down, more couples would get married.

She told Britain's Cosmopolitan magazine: "I think with Instagram and Twitter, romance has lost its way. It's all, 'Oh, I've got this girl but I could have another one and I can contact her directly right this minute.'

"If we lost technology for a year more people would get married."

Meanwhile, the 26-year-old singer has revealed that if her partner loved joining in with her celebrity lifestyle, she'd give him the boot.

She previously said: "Nobody that I'm with wants to be famous or be on a red carpet and if they do, then I don't want to be with them! I want you to have your own life and not be with me because of that."

Jessie has also admitted that she works hard to keep her private life from the public and is desperate for her friends to treat her as if she's not famous.

She said: "Think I've just come to terms with the way my life has changed. There are people that are always going to think that I've changed but I know I haven't.

"I've got the same people around me, the same best mates, and I'm not one of those people that hop to a different best friend every five minutes."
