John Legend engaged to model

Los Angeles - John Legend has got engaged.

The Ordinary People hitmaker proposed to girlfriend Chrissy Teigen over the festive period while they enjoyed a holiday in the Maldives.

His representative Cindi Berger said in a statement: "John Legend and his girlfriend, model Chrissy Teigen, got engaged over the holidays while vacationing in the Maldives."

Cooking classes

No further information about the proposal or the couple's wedding plans have been made public.

Following their break to the Maldives, John and Chrissy - who he has been in a relationship with for over four years - flew to Thailand to spend time with the 26-year-old model's parents and sister.

As well as catching up with their loved ones, the couple even found the time to undertake a number of cooking classes.

Chrissy tweeted: "Did another vacation cooking class! This one wasn't quite as interactive - everything was already chopped and measured and chopping is pretty much our favorite thing ever. Pad Thai, Panang curry, and som tum, or papaya salad."

While it is unknown when the couple will return from their break, John, 32, is scheduled to perform at The Pearl at the Palms in Las Vegas on New Year's Eve.
