John Travolta gets snubbed by KFC

Los Angeles - John Travolta was denied a table at a KFC restaurant in England.

The 57-year-old actor was in the country to attend an annual meeting of Scientologists at Saint Hill Manor, which was purchased by the sci-fi cult's founder in 1959 and now serves as the religion's UK head office.

When an assistant called the nearby East Grinstead, Sussex, branch of the fried chicken chain to ask if they could hold a table for him, the staff member did not believe them and refused to fulfil the request, saying he would have to queue like any other customer.

'Load of nonsense'

However, a spokesperson for the brand has offered him the chance to come back whenever he wants.

The representative said: "Staff thought it was pure fiction when someone called up to book a table for John Travolta, but it turns out we really are the one that he wants! We're sorry for the misunderstanding, and we'd love to invite him for a meal next time he's in the vicinity."

The worker, who did not want to be named, revealed he was only told the table was for a "Mr Travolta".

He said: "To me, customers are customers, no matter who they are. It doesn't make a difference if someone is famous. The lady who called didn't give me her name, she just said it will be for a Mr Travolta. That threw me a little bit. I thought it might be a load of nonsense, but she seemed pretty serious."

I love the bit "purchased by the sci-fi cults founder" Yep, plenty of info on the internet and from former scientologists will tell you it's a sick money making evil cult. Long live XENU!!!

Come on... Who books a table at KFC? Why did this make news?

  • Sharkshoot - 2011-10-22 07:20

Now they're in for it..the Scientologists will put a hex on them and they'll all become aliens.

  • goyougoodthing - 2011-10-22 08:04

Ding ding ding ding ding ding ding. You can take the man out of the Scientologist but not the redneck. KFC? Seriously? And why is he so special the fruity fruitcake?

Somebody should tell him he'd be eating unnecessarily tortured chickens.

I'm sure PETA already did that on his Facebook page?

  • Preshen - 2011-10-24 07:40

he should of used the drive thru

      TSR01 - 2012-07-17 18:03

More like, his assistant should have gotten a menu / checked online / gone there personally, asked Travolta what he would like, order it, place it in a silver-lined carry bag (to keep it warm), bring it back to him, problem solved. I mean, what kind of assistant would expect him to sit down and stay seated in public at a fast food franchise? Unless its a publicity stunt, or he wants paparazzi exposure? Oh well, these days you never know...

I met John Travolta and he is a very nice person. He treats you with such respect you will be confused as to you're the vip or him that is being served. So, booking a table is just a modest thing that this big name people do and they don't do it so they maybe treated differently. If you knew the fuss that ordinary people make about celebrities you will be shocked but they are just like us. And please don't believe the nonsense that is written about celebrities is also a chunk of crap. I met a few, Beyonce, Pharel Williams, Jay-Zee, Tina Turner and the lady O herself and they are just like you and me, is just that Jay-Zee doesn't greet that's what I didn't like about him.

I met E.T. and he is very down to Earth. ;)
