Jub Jub allegations found not to be true

Johannesburg - The Press Ombudsman on Wednesday, 3 September ordered Drum magazine to publish a front page apology to convicted murderer Molemo "Jub Jub" Maarohanye.

This comes after the magazine published an article in June, claiming that Jub Jub and a female visitor were caught having sex at the Johannesburg Prison where Maarohanye is serving a 25-year jail term for murder, attempted murder, driving under the influence of drugs and racing on a public road.

The department of correctional services told the ombudsman that Maarohanye was never caught having sex, as reported by the magazine.

Channel24 earlier reported that according to an article published by the The Sunday Sun a source revealed that prison officials were fed up with the preferential treatment Jub Jub has been receiving while incarcerated.

The last straw for prison wardens was a recent conjugal visit from a female visitor that resulted in a loud romping session.

Jub Jub has been moved from Johannesburg Prison to Leeuwkop Correctional Centre.

The source further revealed that Jub Jub was taken from his cell kicking and screaming.

However, the Department of Correctional Services has denied that Jub Jub has been disciplined for indecent behaviour.
