Cape Town - Justin Bieber has spoken out after damning photos of him surfaced, showing him smoking what seems to be dagga at a party in his hotel room on 2 January.

The party took place the day after news broke about the death of paparazzo Chris Guerra, who had been following Justin's white Ferrari.

Justin's friend, Lil Twist, who was driving his white Ferrari last week when the photographer was killed, was also present during the party where the photos were taken. Sources claim that Lil Twist and his brother were the ones rolling joints and offering them to everyone.

Justin won't let his fans down

TMZ also reports that although security were present during the party, they didn't stop guests from taking pictures of Justin while he was allegedly smoking a joint.

The popstar, who has been under constant scrutiny in recent times, took to his Twitter page after the photos surfaced on gossip website TMZ to defend his actions, reports JustJared.

Justin posted the following set of tweets over the weekend:
HollywoodLife.com also claims that Justin and his on/off girlfriend Selena Gomez officially split around New Years.

A source close to the couple has revealed that "timing" seems to have been the reason behind the breakup, as both of them are facing a busy schedule  in their lives and careers.
