The Boyfriend hitmaker was ill ahead of a gig in Argentina on Sunday night and it's not yet known how he picked up the bug.
The pop superstar broke the news of his tummy troubles on Twitter after hearing of his Best Male win at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Amsterdam on Sunday evening.
He posted: "Sitting here with food poisoning and heard we won #bestmale at the #EMAs. Thanks everyone. (sic)"
The star, who missed the awards ceremony due to work commitments, reassured the Argentinian Beliebers that the gig, which was part of his Believe tour would still go ahead.
He tweeted: "Argentina been a rough day but the show must go on. I'm coming. This sucks. #sick food poisoning. (sic)"
The 19-year-old singer has also reportedly been evicted from the Hotel Faena in Buenos Aires due to his rowdy fans who have disturbed other guests and destroyed hotel property.
It's been an eventful few weeks for the star who ran into trouble in Brazil after spraying graffiti on a wall.
He was also filmed sleeping by Brazilian woman Tati Neves, who posted the video on YouTube, and claimed she smoked cannabis with him.
