Justin Bieber wants to delay DUI trial

Los Angeles - Justin Bieber wants to delay his upcoming trial in Miami, Florida.

The Confident hitmaker, is due to appear in court on 5 May to face charges for Driving Under the Influence (DUI), resisting arrest and possessing an invalid driver's licence in January, but filed court documents on Monday seeking to postpone the case.

The Canadian singer's lawyers will meet with prosecutors and a judge in Miami for a prescheduled meeting later on Wednesday, during which the judge will decide whether or not to change the 20-year-old star's trial date.

Justin, who recently reunited with his on-again, off-again girlfriend Selena Gomez, 21, is currently on holiday with his mother, Pattie Mallette, in Japan.

A source told E! News: "He took his mom and a friend to Japan."

The Heartbreaker singer is trying "to be a better person" and wants to repair his reputation after displaying bad behaviour in recent months.

Another insider recently said: "He's making more of an effort to hang out with people who are positive influences in his life.

"He has started listening to the people around him and he knows it is not too late to change things. He's being more selective with his friends. He wants people around him that will help him and guide him and keep him on the right path."
