Justin Bieber's mother supports him

Los Angeles - Justin Bieber's mother is trying to be as supportive as possible.

Pattie Mallette is coping the best she can since the 19-year-old star was charged with driving under the influence with an expired licence and resisting arrest in Miami, Florida last week, and she only wants what is best for the Heartbreaker hitmaker.

A source close to the 37-year-old Nowhere But Up author told E! News: "Pattie is being a mom, putting her son's best interests first, whatever that means at any time. There are things being said all over, but she is with him when he needs her and will always be there for him. She would never do anything to bring harm to him."

Justin, who was allegedly avoiding his mother last week, is trying not to let his recent troubles get him down and reportedly flew back from Panama, where he was photographed filming a music video, to Los Angeles with his manager Scooter Braun on Tuesday.

An insider said: "Justin is doing OK right now. He's with friends and family. That's what is most important now, being surrounded by family and his closest friends."

Scooter and Justin's mentor Usher flew to Panama to have a serious talk with the young star on Saturday about his future.
