Los Angeles - Justin Bieber had a run in with the law just hours after rumours surfaced he proposed to Selena Gomez.
The Boyfriend singer - who was dumped by his girlfriend of two years last week amid reports she felt she couldn't trust him to be faithful - was pulled over in his white Ferrari for making a dangerous left turn in West Hollywood on Tuesday and was then issued a ticket after police officers discovered his registration for the supercar had expired.
Law enforcement sources confirmed to gossip website TMZ.com that the 18-year-old Canadian popstar - who was driving with a friend at the time - was completely compliant with police and was issued a ticket for not having valid registration.
But the singer didn't appear to be too concerned about his minor brush with the law as he posted a picture of the police car on his Instagram site.
'Completely false'
Meanwhile, sources close to the star have dismissed reports he proposed to 20-year-old Selena twice prior to their high profile split.
PerezHilton.com claimed that a source revealed: "They have agreed to never, never, ever talk about the proposals! It would be far too damaging to his reputation if people found out that a smaller star turned down a bigger star."
But rival website GossipCop.com later claimed the story was "completely false" and also said that Selena dumped Justin because he was "too needy".
The Love You Like A Love Song singer is reportedly struggling to get over their break-up but is happy to have the support of her family and friends.
A source told EOnline.com: "It's hard for her. It's really good she's with family and friends."
