Kate Hudson buys new mansion

Los Angeles - Kate Hudson has splashed out $5.3m on a new home.

The 33-year-old actress and her rocker fiancé Matt Bellamy, 34, have reportedly purchased an exclusive new property directly next door to her current home in the plush Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles.

According to the MailOnline, the couple - who share 17-month-old son Bingham and also raise Kate's son Ryder, seven, from her first marriage to Chris Robinson, - were eager to expand their current living space and snapped up the 650m² mock Tudor residence, which features a pool and a spa, two garages, five bedrooms and seven bathrooms.

Sources indicated that the couple are planning to use the house primarily as a residence for guests despite the fact their properties are close to her mother Goldie Hawn and stepfather Kurt Russell's home.

'A few details organised'

The couple were previously said to have been interested in buying a more expensive property in Malibu last year, after they spent several hours looking at a $15.5m two hectare estate with panoramic views of the ocean.

The Something Borrowed actress - who announced her engagement to Muse singer in April 2011 - recently said she wants to keep details of their special day firmly under wraps until after it happens but confirmed they already have a few details organised.

She said: "I think until the day we get married, the answer is going to be, 'We have no intention right now of getting married.' And then you'll find out we got married.

"We have an idea. It's starting to formulate but it's a timing thing. But honestly, right now, Matt is touring. Ryder is in school. I'm working."
