Johannesburg - Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates captain Senzo Meyiwa's life tragically ended when two gunmen entered his girlfriend, afro pop singer Kelly Khumalo's house in Vosloorus township.
Sport24 reports that Meyiwa tried to protect Khumalo when one of the gunmen pointed a gun at her, a move which resulted in him being shot in the back.

Khumalo and Meyiwa, who have had somewhat of a tumultuous relationship over the past few years, have a young child together.

Meyiwa was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. He leaves behind his estranged wife with whom he has one child.
Fans of the goal keeper have been sending their tributes to the star over Twitter since the news broke.
