Cape Town - "I'm sorry," says Khanyi Mbau.

In an interview with YOU Magazine, the troubled socialite opens up about how her sister rescued her from the "evil period" in her life.

Thandeka Mcunu, Khanyi's 27-year-old sister, "dropped everything" to rescue Khanyi who was on the brink of a breakdown after her relationship with 53-year-old businessman Theunis Crous ended.

Khanyi says: "I had a moment of awakening after I'd broken up with Theunis. I found one of my old scripts from Muvhango (the soapie she once starred in) and just broke down. It dawned on me I was as good as satanic.

"I would like to apologise to my family and friends. I've lost so many people because of the person I was."

Thandeka is Khanyi's manager and says she is very protective of her sister. The pair now co-own a management company.

The Lamborghini-loving socialite was recently involved in a nude photo scandal which saw provocative images of her distributed online.
