Johannesburg - A dress that was specially designed for Khloe Kardashian by Johannesburg based designer Gert-Johan Coetzee was expected to find a new closet to call home by 07:00 on Sunday. By Saturday afternoon however, the highest bid was only at $66 (R480,50). According to Coetzee, the dress is worth at least R8000.
Kardashian’s spokesperson reportedly called to inform Coetzee that she does not have adequate space for all her outfits and that his dress, along with some of Kardashian’s other clothes will be auctioned on the well-known website.
This is not the dress that Kardashian’s older sister, Kourtney wore last month to the People’s Choice Awards in Los Angeles. This dress was custom-made for Khloe herself. It is a shoulderless black dress, with black and white fringe made of French silk, featuring a twisted upper panel.
Coetzee gave both the dresses to the Kardashian sisters during Kim and Khloe’s visit to South Africa in December last year. He says that he does not feel insulted by Khloe’s decision to sell his creation online.
“I’m actually glad that she’s selling it, because it means that it won’t be stashed in the back of a closet forever. It can enrich the life of the person who buys it,” he said.
According to Kardashian’s page on eBay, 15% of the final selling price will be donated to Cathy’s Kids, a charity organisation set up by her basket ball player husband, Lamar Odom.
