Kim Kardashian engaged

Los Angeles - Kim Kardashian is engaged, People reports.

The TV starlet's boyfriend of just six months, basketball player Kris Humphries surprised her at her Beverley Hills home on May 18 where he popped the question.

Kim told People in an interview: "I didn't expect this at all," says Kardashian. "I was in such shock. I never thought it would happen at home, and I never thought now."

Humphries reportedly asked for Kim's hand in marriage by spelling out the words "will you marry me?" in rose petals. On bended knee, he proposed with a giant 20.5-carat Lorraine Schwartz diamond ring.

"I just knew I wanted it to be big," Humphries explained.

My glitter pony

Later that evening Humphries planned an intimate family celebration with the help of Kardashian mom, Kris Jenner. The party reportedly included the appearance of two miniature horses covered in glitter.

"Kris really didn't want a big celebration, but he had jokingly told my mom he'd be fine if there were mini-horses there," says Kardashian. "Later that night at the party, my mom brought out two mini-horses, covered in glitter, for us! It was hysterical!"

Shortly after the announcement members of the Kardashian family started tweeting their well wishes with Kris Jenner tweeting: "YIIPPEEE SO HAPPY!!!!! @peoplemag Congratulations Kim and Kris!!! @kimkardashian is engaged!"

Kim's sister Khloé Kardashian tweeted: "I can't believe I was able to keep this a secret but now I can scream all I want about it! Kim is engaged!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG!!!!!!!!!!"

Shortly after she tweeted again saying: "Kimmie the love u have is infectious and I love every second of this!!! I LOVE that you r engaged!!! I love that you are so happy!"
