Kimora and Djimon 'heading for split'

Los Angeles – Gladiator star Djimon Hounsou has reportedly walked out on his four-year marriage to reality TV star Kimora Lee Simmons, according to E! Online.

A source close to the couple told the New York Daily News that the 37-year-old model and Fabulosity queen got into a "big fight over money" with her 48-year-old Benin-born husband.

The source says that split may have been prompted by Kimora's ex-husband, hip-hop and fashion magnate Russell Simmons, who decided to stop funding the couple's lavish lifestyle.

Kimora and Russell were married for 10 years and have two daughters together.

'Spending too much money'

"Kimora lives as if she's the Queen of England," says the source.

Fanning the flames of the rumours that the couple are having financial problems is the fact that Kimora has put her six-bedroom, eight-bath Beverly Hills home on the market for $4.7m - below the $5.9m she paid for the property in 2007.

Kimora, 37, then took to Twitter on Monday to address the growing speculation.

"Wow, I put 1 of several properties I own (+ DONT live in) on the market & now apparently my whole life is fallin apart?! Smdh. Rumors, Rumors.... [sic]," she tweeted.

Kimora is the former creative director of fashion label Baby Phat, a company she launched. She was removed from the company in 2010 amidst rumours that she was spending too much money to pay herself and her children to appear in the label's ads.

Kimora and Djimon were married in 2008 and have a three-year-old son, Kenzo Lee Hounsou. Kimora and her family star in their own Style Network reality show, Kimora: Life in the Fab Lane.

The couple were in South Africa for the 2010 Soccer World Cup. Djimon is set to return to South Africa in July to shoot a new movie called Zulu, in which he will play a South African cop opposite Orlando Bloom.
