Kurt crash: Wife shares travel drama

Johannesburg - Dunay van Heerden, wife of Afrikaans singer Kurt Darren, was finally able to make it home to her husband’s hospital bed after he was involved in a serious car accident early on Sunday morning.

Dunay, who was on holiday in Europe when the accident took place, struggled to get back to South Africa after she received news of the Loslappie singer’s car crash.

"I’ve never felt this helpless in my life!!" Dunay tweeted on Tuesday as she did everything she could to be reunited with her husband who was still in the Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg.

A few hours later she tweeted again saying: "Just had a very embarrassing cry in the middle of Athens airport…so frustrated!!!"

However late on Wednesday afternoon Dunay finally shared some good news with her followers: "Finally with my angel in hospital. He is still in a lot of pain, but your messages and prayers are carrying him through this. Thank you!"

She also shared a photo of herself in the hospital next to gifts and messages of support that Darren has received.

Darren was airlifted to hospital early Sunday morning after he was involved in a serious car crash on his way home from watching a rugby match.
