Speaking in a video accompanying the sexy photo shoot, Demi said: "In the past I suffered from eating disorders and I basically went from hating every inch of my body to working on myself and figuring out ways to love myself and love the skin that I'm in.

"I learned that you can get to a place that you love the skin you're in."

The Cool for the Summer hitmaker chose to pose naked as she prepares to release her new album Confident, and believes the title reflects feeling "comfortable in your own skin".

She explained: "I thought there was something incredible about the idea of no makeup whatsoever, no clothes and no retouching. I would never have thought I'd get to a place in my life where I'm comfortable doing that.

"It's empowering and it shows other women you can get to a place where you can overcome the obstacles of body image issues, you can feel comfortable and confident in your skin."

Sometimes you just have to say fuck the photoshop... #CONFIDENT #vanityfair
